We work for the community, with the community and by the community.
This Social Enterprise doesn’t seek funding but creates its own income by the community with work from local businesses and local people. Revenue created is ploughed back into the project to organise courses for local people to learn many skills as well as becoming something like a White Goods Engineer?
We are also creating a network of local self-employed people to do jobs for others in the community, such as creating a community car wash, gardening and odd jobs? We don’t just find jobs for people we create them!

It Does Work
We don’t just find and support people into work, we actually create jobs such as our White Goods Engineer.
We have commenced recycling white goods by refurbishing them to stop them going into landfill. By doing this we have created a job that wouldn’t have been there and started something good for the community.
The local authority will be able to purchase these at a reduced cost thereby saving money where cuts are being made.
The whole concept is good for the community, businesses and the economy.

Why Do We Do This?
Several years ago, I was working for a company that supported young people into work. I had been working in the caring profession for a number of years and was concerned for the changes coming regarding funding. My last job I was made redundant from, and this was the third time in a row I had been made redundant, things weren’t looking good. I tried to get a job but, due to being of a mature age, I was not finding success, even though my profession was to create CV’s and promote interview skills.
I was noticing the amount of services declining due to having no money and so thought we must try another way to support ourselves in the community otherwise most of the services we have had will go completely.
I set about forming an environment where we could earn our own money from the local businesses that we could use for our own services? Its taken me four years to get the concept working properly, but the business model works very well and we can now plan to pay for people from the community to attend courses to improve their chances of becoming employed or even to consider working for themselves.
People from the community deciding whats best for themselves and their community………………all helping each other.
The project is called Business Innovation Zone (affectionately known as BIZ) where business and the community are brought together for the greater good of both.
Business providing work experience for people trying to get back into work, and people providing a work force for the businesses. Money raised from the work we do goes back to training people in the community. We have even been known to create some of the jobs ourselves that people do.
